Peep Studio: Christine Price
“The Surf Coast is so beautiful and the ocean instantly relaxes me. I often walk the tracks into the bush or along the beach and nothing else gives me that feeling of instant calm. I wanted all our clients to walk into Peep Studio and have a similar feeling. Like, wow it’s so beautiful! Then to sit back and feel instantly relaxed!”
After working from home for 10 years, Christine Price followed her dreams to open a retail space for Peep Studio. Specializing in lashes and brows, the Torquay based business has amassed a loyal following. “Peep Studio is a peaceful and fun environment to lay back and have your brows and lashes tended to,” says Christine. “Our girls are so friendly and bubbly, you feel right at home when you enter our beautiful studio.”
Christine has lived in Torquay for 17 years with her partner Shayne and son Jack. “We love the relaxed lifestyle by the beach and coastal bush. In our free time we enjoy going for drives along the coast and getting out and about into nature.”
When looking for a space for Peep Studio, Christine did not hesitate in opening in Torquay. “It is an amazing close knit community, people are really supportive of local business and that’s what I love about the town.” Peep Studio moved into the new complex on Gilbert Street, Torquay in February this year. To bring her vision to life, she engaged the services of local Interior Designer Kiera Sehmish of Salt Design Studio.
We spoke with Kiera on the Peep Studio brief, “Christine had a clear vision of what she wanted for her studio space. Using Christine’s vision and branding, combined with soft curves, a palette of nude and pink hues, layered textures, luxurious finishes and a variety of contrasting materials, informed the design concept and overall aesthetic. It was a wonderful collaboration with Christine and her partner Shayne, a carpenter, who made the drawings and design ideas come to life in built form.”
The studio had to close shortly after opening its doors, due to COVID restrictions but has recently welcomed clients back.
What are the advantages of doing business on the Surf Coast?
“The support and encouragement from the local clients and other businesses. There is a big emphasis on Support Local here which I love. All the girls who work at Peep Studio are from Torquay and Jan Juc. The products we retail are all Australian owned brands.”
