The natural beauty of the Surf Coast is constantly inspiring me. The ocean has always been my muse and sanctuary, and my best ideas always come when I’m walking along coastal trails or floating on my board waiting for waves. There is a spaciousness here that allows my ideas to form and evolve and my favourite photoshoots are always on the beach (or actually IN the water when it comes to surf photography!)
— Leslie Carvitto - Founder Leslie Carvitto Photography

Leslie Carvitto is a local photographer creating vibrant and authentic imagery for female business owners and conscious creatives.

She was born and raised in California and found roots in both Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest before moving to Australia. After a year of living in Melbourne and driving the M1 six to eight times a week to surf, she and her husband made the move to the Surf Coast at the beginning of 2020. She’ll be the first to tell you settling down in Jan Juc has been one of the best and easiest decisions of her life.

After trying out various genres of photography, she found her niche photographing female artists and small business owners. She is now on a mission to show the world the depth of women’s gifts, creativity and spirit.

“I've been honoured to collaborate with incredible women on the Surf Coast who are working for themselves, redefining success and building a creative life they love. With a diverse group of creatives along this stretch of coast,” said Leslie.

I have worked with yoga instructors, painters and printmakers, online coaches and consultants, environmental educators and florists, and of course, water women and surfers.“

Through photography, she aims to make women feel seen, heard and understood. She’s their biggest cheerleader, reminding them that their work matters, and that they can pursue the path that makes them excited and has their heart beating uncomfortably fast.

One thing that might surprise you about her is…

“When I first started photography, I wasn't interested in photographing people. I loved landscape photography and my computer was filled with images of mountains, the ocean, and sunrises.

One day a friend and fellow photographer convinced me that people were really fascinating to photograph (and a bit more dynamic than landscape) so I started making my friends pose for portraits. Eventually, I combined my love for portraits and nature by booking all of my photoshoots outdoors in wild and lovely landscapes!”

An advantage of doing business on the Surf Coast is…

..to be able connect and collaborate with female creators and business owners on the coast. A few businesses I've connected with include; Seedblog , Lady Evergreen , Loose Ink Design, Castleton Collective, and Surf Coast Women's Boardriders Club.
