BodyICE specialises in area specific ice and heat packs to help people of all ages recover naturally from their injuries with simple cold and heat therapy.

Lydia Lassila, founder and director of BodyICE spent most of her life as an elite athlete and went to five consecutive Winter Olympics as an Aerial Skier. BodyICE was established in 2006 after suffering from multiple knee injuries.

“After enduring and overcoming multiple injuries as an athlete, I realised the importance of injury management specifically using cold therapy and practicing yoga.”

The Woman & Kids ranges of BodyICE were established in 2011. This year she launched a new brand ZONE - an eco friendly yoga, wellness and lifestyle brand was released in March this year.

My latest range ZONE has been influenced greatly by me living here on the Surf Coast. My love for yoga and my pristine surroundings urged me to want to make sustainable, yet functional and durable yoga products and accessories. The smell of the bush inspired me research and release my own native essential oils blends which are now available.

What made you decide to operate your business on the Surf Coast?

“Lorne has always been my happy place. I spent all my holidays as a child down here and it was always the first pace I wanted to come back to after long stints competing overseas. “

“I started my business whilst I was an athlete travelling the globe so it was engineered from the start to be a ‘mobile business’ which meant I could work from anywhere with a wifi signal! When it came to choosing a place to call home, Lorne was obvious. BodyICE continues to operate as a satellite team and I enjoy working from home here on the Surf Coast.”

What are the advantages of doing business on the Surf Coast?

I’ve connected with many businesses on the surf coast. Zone is now stocked in the Lorne Corner Store, I collaborate with Elysse Carver (surf style trainer and yogi) as well as Lydia Latta from Hermosa Co to name a few.

One thing that might surprise you about BodyICE....

“A lot of people assume I am just the face of my business and don’t realise that I have solely developed each and every product we offer from scratch! I love product development and I love developing products that people need and solve peoples problems!”

What is your most popular product?

Our most popular products are the BodyICE Woman Maternity Care gift box for expecting mums, the Medium Universal ice and heat pack for those with troublesome knees and our newly released Cork Yoga mat.
