Black Salt Co was founded in 2016 by Amber and Jenny Foster, a dynamic mother and daughter duo who love travel and design.

Together they have created a coastal, luxe homewares and lifestyle brand with an online store, showroom, warehouse and wholesale arm to the business. They also work closely with local Interior Stylists and Real Estate Agencies to bring a relaxed, coastal style to homes across the region.

Amber and Jenny source unique products both locally and globally and design one of a kind pieces. In their collections, you will find a mix of Bohemian, Moroccan & Neutral Décor; cushions, throws, rattan furniture, woven light shades, rugs and mirrors. Among their best sellers right now are the Seville Buffet, Lanai Table, Arch Mirrors and Sahara Pots.

Having grown up on the Mornington Peninsula, Amber has called Torquay home for the past 15 years. Her mother, Jenny relocated from Alice Springs, after finding out Amber was pregnant with her first child. They decided to start the business together to share the things they love most; products, travelling and family. Three beautiful children later and the family is a travelling roadshow on constant buying trips, product sourcing holidays and business travel. As a bonus for Amber's husband Todd, most destinations they travel to include great surf spots. 😁🏄🏽‍♂️

What made you decide to operate your business here?

“We found that Torquay was the perfect place to start small and local. With such an amazing community we were surrounded with cheerleaders of loyal, genuine and humble customers from the start. We were so grateful to be given the opportunity to grow into who we are today because of the support from our local community.”

What are the advantages of doing business on the Surf Coast?

“The Surf Coast community supports local, helps local and grows local. We started small, doing markets and pop up shops trying to gauge where our brand direction was heading. With the support of other local businesses and our loyal customer base we were able to grow into a successful online and wholesale lifestyle brand nationally.”

You might be surprised to know that…

“The Block featured our brand on the 2019 series last year with contestants Deb & Andy Saunders. We actually knew Deb prior to the show as she is one of our stockists in Taree, NSW at The Shed Luxe. It was so great that Channel 9 were able to explore Torquay for the day - we just wish we were able to help Deb & Andy with their challenge!”
